While most of the time, criminals get what they deserve but often they get off too lightly. The Department of Justice (DOJ) has stated that it has launched an investigation into the attorneys’ handling of Jeffery Epstein’s plea deal.
There have been some quite serious allegations that department attorneys have committed professional misconduct in the manner that the case was resolved. The one to announce the investigation was Sen. Ben Sasse (R-Neb.), a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee. He has stated that the Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR) launched the probe. He found out via a letter he received from the Department of Justice.
Who is Jeffery Epstein?
One of the most infamous and disgusting sexual predators in the modern history of the US, Epstein was accused of molesting more than 100 girls and furthermore, running a sex ring. It doesn’t stop there. Epstein has been known to have links to both former President Clinton, and current President Trump – the man who is currently in charge of one of the largest and most powerful countries in the world.
The Deal and Sentencing
After being accused of running a sex ring that trafficked teenage girls, Epstein, a palm beach millionaire, was offering a plea deal. In the deal, he pleaded guilty to only two charges of prostitution and he and any “co-conspirators” were given complete immunity from any further prosecution. He only received a thirteen-month sentence for his crimes.
It seems the Sasse isn’t happy with what happened to this monster and has been pressing the Department of Justice following the short sentence. In a statement, he stated that Epstein is a child rapist and every single parent in America would be horrified by the fact that he received such a pathetically short sentence given the severity and repulsive nature of his crimes and what the did to all those poor teenage girls.
He went on to say that the victims, as well as the American people, deserve this investigation. A thorough investigation. For Justice. Could the victims finally get some sort of closure? Can they finally rest knowing that Epstein is locked up for good? Only time will tell…
